The National Health Service in the UK, via its National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), is setting up guidelines for the management of adult autism. Various discussion and draft documents are here.

This guideline will advise doctors throughout England and Wales on how to manage adults with autism, obviously having an impact on a significant number of people. NICE guidelines are also used unofficially by doctors in other contries, notably Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, so the impact could be widespread.

Please have a look at the draft documents, disseminate them and give me feedback. You have to be a ‘stakeholder’ to have your comments officially taken into account; I will endeavour to organise this if there are strong feelings about any aspects of these guidelines. The consultation period closes on the 27th January.

I will put my own opinions in a later post.
